Rocco Named Head Coach

Jim Rocco is the new Varsity Boys Basketball Head Coach

On behalf of the North Catholic Administration, we are proud to announce Mr. Jim Rocco as the next Head Boys Basketball Coach of North Catholic High School.

Coach Rocco brings a wealth of high school coaching experience to our Boys Basketball Program. He coached at Penn Hills from 1989-2015 guiding his team to the 2004 PIAA 4A Championship and the 2003 WPIAL 4A Championship, among many other impressive playoff runs. Coach Rocco then took the position at Penn Trafford where he coached from 2015-2020. He guided his team to three WPIAL 6A playoff appearances. Most recently, Coach Rocco was the Assistant Varsity Boys Basketball Coach here at North Catholic, where he was able to enjoy watching his daughter, Alayna ('24), start for the Trojanettes.

Throughout his time coaching in high school and AAU, Coach Rocco has developed players to be recruited by NCAA schools such as Arizona, Kentucky, Virginia, Pitt, Boston College and many others.  In 2005, he was inducted into the Penn Hills Sports Hall of Fame as a coach and player, and in 2010 his 1986-1987 National Championship Team was inducted into the Gannon University Athletic Hall of Fame.

Coach Rocco currently teaches science at Penn Trafford High School. He is married to his wife, Monica, and has two children (Zach – USMA West Point Class of 2024; Alayna – NC Class of 2024).

Please help us in congratulating Coach Rocco and his family! He is excited to be the next Boys Basketball Coach and further the tradition, culture and success of the program.

"I am humbled and honored to carry on the proud and successful tradition of North Catholic Basketball. This is an awesome and exciting day for me and my family, an opportunity of a lifetime. We are going to work every single day, to make our players better and uphold the values that have held North Catholic up since its inception – Character, Discipleship, Academic Excellence, Leadership and Family. Our mission is clear and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to use our basketball classroom to develop a cohesive team with Christ-centered young men who will become leaders of character." It's time to get to work!
