Hello! My name is Kate and I am one of the athletic trainers serving the student-athletes at North Catholic High School. As an alum of North Catholic (2003) I am extremely honored to have the opportunity to still be a part of the family atmosphere and tradition at NC. I attended Waynesburg College where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training in 2007. While at Waynesburg, I was also a four-year member of the women’s basketball team. I then attended graduate school at the University of Pittsburgh, obtaining a Master of Science degree in Sports Medicine in 2009. During my time at the University of Pittsburgh I had the opportunity to act as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer, serving as a physician extender in orthopedics and casual coverage athletic trainer for various local high schools and universities. At the completion of graduate school, I accepted a position with Allegheny Health Network, and was appointed as the athletic trainer at North Catholic High School. In addition to my athletic trainer responsibilities at North Catholic, I have also been an assistant coach with the girl’s basketball program since 2007.

Hello, my name is Karen Richards and I am one of the athletic trainers at North Catholic. I have had the privilege of taking care of the student-athletes at NC since 2016. I have been with Allegheny Health Network for over 20 years, caring for athletes at various schools including Carlynton, Northgate, Avonworth, and now NC. I attended Duquesne University and received a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training. During my time at Duquesne, I had the opportunity to work with many different teams throughout the Pittsburgh area. I accepted my position with AHN the day I graduated and have advanced my career to become a Regional Supervisor for AHN Sports Medicine. This position has allowed me to work with not only high school and college athletes, but even a few professional athletes. When I am not taking care of athletes I love to spend time with my husband Bill and my bird Ndugu!!  We love to travel (especially to Disney) and spend times with friends.
