Beaver Falls PA – The North Catholic Trojans were in search of a win heading into Friday starting off the season 0-2. They had dropped their season opener to the Seton LaSalle Rebels 23-12 and came up short against the Knoch Knights 28-17. With this year's unique schedule, the Trojans would play their 3rd away game in a row as they headed to play the Blackhawk Cougars. In total, North Catholic will only have four home games as a result of joining the 3A Western Hills Conference. This matchup was a big one as the Trojans looked to end the road trip on a high note. The game, along with many others scheduled in the WPIAL, was postponed due to inclement weather and moved to Saturday morning. The Cougars and Trojans battled until the very last whistle and ended with a North Catholic victory 33-32.
The Game – Junior Joey Felitsky threw for 266 yards including a last-minute 47-yard pass to Senior WR Jack White for the game-winning touchdown with 2 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter. Throughout the game, Felitsky found Sophomore WR Will Waskiewicz with a 21-yard pass and Ryker Kennedy with a 10-yard pass, both for touchdowns. Senior RB Christian Naylor had a 16-yard rushing touchdown, and Junior WR Tom Arth tallied a 1-yard rushing touchdown to add to the victory.
The Trojans will be home this Friday at JC Stone Field, facing the Quaker Valley Quakers (0-2) at 7:00pm. Game action will also be broadcasted live on the North Catholic Sports Network.
