Cranberry Twp. PA – The Trojanettes have started the season off strong going 9-1, which includes going undefeated on the road, 5-0. Officially joining the WPIAL this year, the team is ready to compete, and they have shown that through the first half of the season.

The season began at home with a Trojanette win at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course 189-235 against the Ambridge Bridgers. Freshman Riley Kontul and Junior Izzy Engleka led the team to victory with scores of 41 and 43. Considering the course's long two Par-5 holes on the front nine, this impressive 189 gave the Trojanettes the momentum needed to start the season off right.

North Catholic was home again, this time facing the Shady Side Academy Bulldogs, but they came up short 196-188. Looking to bounce back, the Trojanettes were headed to Shadow Lakes Country Club taking on Central Valley Warriors. The girls pulled out with a dominating win 193-228. Sophomore Allie Gruseck lead the team with a score of 53.

Next up was a match at Fox Chapel Country Club where the Trojanettes would be looking for revenge against Shady Side Academy. Despite high team scores, North Catholic pulled out 202-239. This was a tough course due to hazards which included basin-style bunkers that completely surrounded greens. Going back home, the team played Ellwood City and won 191-240. Izzy Engleka highlighted the team's victory with an impressive score.

Heading to Allegheny Country Club, the Trojanettes were faced with a tough opponent in Sewickley Academy. Another tough course with narrow fairways and deep rough, both teams ended in a tie, 200-200. Izzy Engleka and Riley Kontul would play in a 1-hole playoff and claim victory by one stroke for the Trojanettes, 212-213. After this tight win, the team traveled to Seven Oaks Country Club facing Beaver Area and won 199-204.

Fox Run Golf Course was next where North Catholic played the Ambridge Bridgers again. With a dominating performance, the girls won 186-228. Low scores from Riley Kontul (41), Izzy Engleka (49), Senior Kendall Bruns (49), and Junior Callie Mardis (47) lead the way to victory. Returning to Peasant Ridge, the Trojanettes took on Central Valley and won by 3 strokes, 208-211.

This past week, the Trojanettes had two matches at home playing Central Valley and the Seton LaSalle Rebels. North Catholic topped the Warriors 208-211 and beat the Rebels with the team's lowest score of 185-199. Junior Lizzie Fabian and Freshman GiGi Collafella headlined the win with some of the lowest scores.

With four matches remaining, the team is looking forward to the second half of the season entering 9-1 tied for first in the section. The WPIAL Sectional Tournament will begin September 18th at Fox Run Golf Course. Individual WPIAL playoffs will be held at Butler Country Club and will close out the season for North Catholic.
