Danny Franco
Football

Danny is a senior football player at North Catholic. He has played a key role in his teams success. We asked Danny a few questions about his time as a North Catholic student-athlete.   
 

Sports played at North Catholic? What positions did you play? 

I play football at North Catholic as a linebacker and running back.  
 

List any personal or team athletic records, awards or achievements earned while playing at North Catholic. 

I lettered Sophomore and Junior year. I also made First Team All-Conference Outside Linebacker Junior Year  
 

What has been your favorite moment as a North Catholic Student-Athlete? 

Playing at Heinz Field (Acrisure Stadium) sophomore year in WPIAL Championship.
 

How has being a NC Student-Athlete benefited you? 

Being a student-athlete has given me a structure for my school year. My freshman and sophomore years sports helped me meet new people much easier. It allowed me to be more on top of my schoolwork because I didn't want to get put on academic probation.  
 

What has been your most meaningful moment at NC outside of athletics?

Probably everyone helping me and being there for me after I broke my leg. All my teachers were very understanding, and my classmates always helped me out getting to class and helped me get my mind off the situation.  
 

Do you have any game day superstitions or routines?

I eat bananas and I drink pickle juice before my games and at halftime to prevent cramps. Every game I have not done that I have cramped.  
 

What will you miss most about your time as a student-athlete at NC? 

I'll miss team meals and bus rides with my teammates.  
 

What advice would you give younger athletes about their time at NC? 

Enjoy every practice and game that you have, even when it sucks, because you never know when it could be your last play.  
 

What are your plans after graduation? 

I am not sure yet. I may want to continue to play football in college, but I won't know until the end of the season.

Olivia Lee
Cheer 

Olivia is a cheerleader for the sideline and the competitive cheer team. Olivia is the captain of the sideline team. We asked Olivia a few questions about her time as a North Catholic student-athlete.  

Sports played at North Catholic? What positions did you play? 

I cheer for the North Catholic cheer team and competitive team.  
 

List any personal or team athletic records, awards or achievements earned while playing at North Catholic. 

I am the captain of the sideline team.  
 

What has been your favorite moment as a North Catholic Student-Athlete? 

My favorite moment as a North Catholic Student-Athlete was cheering at Heinz Field sophomore year.  
 

How has being a NC Student-Athlete benefited you? 

Being a NC Student-Athlete has benefitted me in many ways such as creating new friendships and learning new life lessons. 
 

What has been your most meaningful moment at NC outside of athletics?

My most meaningful moment at NC outside of athletics would be the fun events we get to do such as homecoming. 
 

Do you have any game day superstitions or routines? 

No, I do not.  
 

What will you miss most about your time as a student-athlete at NC?

I will miss my friends the most.  
 

What advice would you give younger athletes about their time at NC?

Always try new things even if you don't think you will like them, because you might be surprised. 
 

What are your plans after graduation?

After I graduate, I plan to attend a university and study biochemistry. I also plan to cheer in college.

Luke Rinker
Cross Country

Luke runs cross country and does track and field. Luke is the captain of the cross country team. We asked Luke a few questions about his time as a North Catholic student-athlete.   

Sports played at North Catholic? What positions did you play? 

Varsity cross country. Varsity track and field (distance runner and javelin). Indoor track (distance) 
 

List any personal or team athletic records, awards or achievements earned while playing at North Catholic. 

2nd place as a team at Youthtowne Clash invitational in cross country. 3rd place as a team at Cal U's Marty Uher invitational in cross country. 6th place in 2022 Butler Invitational 1600 meter.  
 

What has been your favorite moment as a North Catholic Student-Athlete? 

Being a part of a great team in cross country and seeing our hard work pay off by placing in the top 3 at large invitationals.  
 

How has being a NC Student-Athlete benefited you? 

I have been able to improve my race times as well as meet great friends.  
 

What has been your most meaningful moment at NC outside of athletics??? 

Getting to meet other people who value their faith.  
 

Do you have any game day superstitions or routines?

No, I do not.  
 

What will you miss most about your time as a student-athlete at NC?

Being a member of a team and having a lot of fun together. 
 

What advice would you give younger athletes about their time at NC? 

Join a club or sports team that sounds interesting to you, don't be afraid to meet new people, and enjoy your time in high school.  
 

What are your plans after graduation? 

My plan is to study business in college.
