Wexford PA – The North Catholic Trojans (2-0) were coming off a big win over Seton LaSalle Rebels in week zero, 47-14. The Trojans were spectacular on both sides of the ball, especially on offense with touchdowns from four different players. Riding high on momentum from last week, the team looked to have yet another outstanding game, but they would be without a key contributor on offense. Senior WR Ryker Kennedy was ruled out with an injury and the team would have to fill his absence.
North Catholic got off to a great start, scoring on their first drive of the game with a 1-yard rushing touchdown from senior RB Logan Schade. Then, the Knights turned over possession on their own 46-yard line, which turned into another touchdown for the Trojans as senior WR Preston Simko caught a 3-yard pass. With that, North Catholic was up 14-0 with five minutes remaining in the first quarter. Knoch answered back with a touchdown from QB Max Wiley to cut the Trojan's lead in half, 14-7. To end the first, RB Logan Schade had a 47-yard rushing touchdown to pull ahead.
The Trojans continued their offensive dominance with another touchdown as senior QB Joey Felitsky connected with RB Logan Schade for an 11-yard pass. Just a few minutes later, senior SS Reid Rinker intercepted a Knoch pass, putting North Catholic on their own 27-yard line. QB Joey Felitsky completed a 10-yard pass to senior TE Tom Arth for another touchdown and a commanding lead over the Knights, 35-7. Knoch's next possession was shut down by the Trojans, only permitting a field goal from K Roman DeFelice, making the score 35-10. With two minutes remaining in the second quarter, QB Max Wiley threw another interception, adding to Knoch's offensive blunders. The Trojans scored yet another touchdown after the turnover as QB Joey Felisky found WR Preston Simko with a 22-yard pass.
At the start of the third quarter, North Catholic enlarged their lead with a touchdown from junior WR Will Waskiewicz for 61 yards, making it 48-10. Shortly after, senior MLB Nick Franco had a Pick-6 for a 25-yard return and a touchdown. With the mercy rule activated, the game still could not end fast enough for the Knights. The Trojans had two more rushing touchdowns with the JV squad on the field. Junior TE Anthony Greene and sophomore RB Nate Swisher ran for touchdowns of 43 and 60 yards to round out the game. North Catholic beat Knoch by a whopping score of 69-10, extending their win streak to 2 games.
North Catholic's next game is Friday, September 5th as they face the Blackhawk Cougars at Lieutenant JC Stone Field. Kickoff is at 7pm and the game will be brought live to you on the North Catholic Sports Network. Coverage begins at 6:50pm.
