On Saturday, October 2nd, the Boys and Girls Cross Country teams headed to Grove City for the John Sample Grove City Invitational. The boys team placed 3rd overall while the girls team placed 6th overall.
In the Varsity boys race, freshman
Giacomo Lepore placed 9th. Sophomore Sam West placed 13th and junior Joe Harmanos was 21st. Another notable finish was Alex Urling, who ran as an independent but placed 20th overall. All four boys received medals for their races. Meanwhile, on the girls team, there were four notable finishes. In the JV race, senior
Riley Orr placed 10th overall and senior
Anna Spalvieri placed 15th and both received medals. In the Varsity girls race, sophomore
Grace Lazzara placed 5th and senior
Alaina Hicks placed 10th and also received medals.
On October 5th, the team ran their section meet against Quaker Valley and Avonworth. The boys team won both of their races, and
Giacomo Lepore was the top finisher. On the girls team, 2 of the top 5 girls did not race, but
Alaina Hicks was the top finisher and won for the girls team. Although the girls had their first losses of the season against both Quaker Valley and Avonworth, it was one of their toughest courses all year and they had a very strong showing.
