California, PA - The girl's and boy's cross country teams kicked off their season on Saturday morning at the Marty Uher Invitational hosted by Cal U of PA. The girl's team finished a respectable 4th overall in the Fire Race (1A/2A) out of 22 schools.
Grace Lazzara (Jr.),
Julia Zalenski (Sr.) and
Madeline Meeuf (Fr.) led the way and were individual medalists by placing 7th, 9th and 23rd respectively out of 216 competitors.
In the boy's Fire Race (1A/2A), out of a field of 25 teams the NC boy's finished tied for 2nd with Quaker Valley at 129 points despite missing two of their top runners. However, QV won the tiebreaker based on the placing of each team's 6th runner. Montour was the team champion with 114 points. The boy's team had four individual medalists in seniors

Joe Harmanos (17th) and
Rigel Weakland (21st) among the 269 competitors.
