Cranberry Twp. PA – The North Catholic Trojans had two crucial match-ups to close out October against the Mars Planets and Freeport Yellow Jackets. Riding a 3-game win streak, the Trojans were high on momentum and had an opportunity to move up in the standings.

Game 10/28: Mars Planets – North Catholic has had their struggles in the past with powerhouse Mars, but a new season would bring new opportunities, which happened Tuesday night. The Planets struck first with a goal from F Grant Weaver. A minute later, Junior F Carson Paglia scored on the power play tying the game 1-1. In the 2nd period, Mars' F Max Zagorski was given a game misconduct for head contact. North Catholic was unable to convert on the power play, but Paglia found the back of the net again for an even strength goal, taking the lead 2-1. Two more goals would come for the Trojans in the 3rd period from Freshman F Bryce Radeke and Junior F Anthony Neely. Neely's goal was on the power play shortly after North Catholic let up a short-handed goal to F Jack Weaver. The Trojans maintained their 2-goal lead for the remainder of the game and pulled out a pivotal win against the Planets 4-2. Junior G Wyatt Cleveland stopped 39 of 41 shots faced, posting a .951 SV%. Carson Paglia finished the night with 3 points (2 G, 1 A) and Junior F Beckett Dunn notched 2 assists.

Game 10/31: Freeport Yellow Jackets – After coming off a big win, the Trojans entered this game with high expectations. In the 1st period, F Beckett Dunn scored giving the Trojans an early lead. The game would start to turn sideways after North Catholic let up two short-handed goals with Freeport taking the lead 2-1. F Zach Bowser had both goals assisted by F Aiden Bauman. The Trojans took back momentum in the 2nd with 6 unanswered goals. F Carson Paglia found the back of the net 5 times. Beckett Dunn had his second goal of the game, and North Catholic ended the period with a commanding lead 7-2. He would complete the hat trick at the start of the final frame and add another goal increasing the deficit 9-2. Sophomore F Evan Stanton and Freshman F Landon Meyers rounded out the game with two more goals making the final score 11-2. Freshman G Darren Riley stopped 13 of 15 shots on goal for a .867 SV%. North Catholic had points from 11 different players including 5 each for Beckett Dunn (4 G, 1 A) and Carson Paglia (5 G).

The Trojans are currently 3rd in the Varsity A Blue Standings with a 5-1-0-0 record. They face Wheeling Park for a second time this season at home on Tuesday, November 12th. North Catholic took the first game of the series 4-0. Wheeling Park sits 5th in the division with a 3-1-0-1 record.
