Cranberry Twp. PA – The North Catholic Trojans were back on home ice to face the Richland Rams for the second and final time of the regular season. Both teams met earlier at 1st Summit Arena with the Trojans pulling out a 6-2 win. North Catholic came into this game with a 6-2-0 record, 4th in the Varsity A Blue Division. The Rams were still in the search for a win this season as they sat last in the standings going 0-8-0.
The Game – Richland started the scoring in the 1st period with two back-to-back goals from F Wesley Dunlap, gaining a 2-0 lead over the Trojans. North Catholic cut the Rams' lead in half with a goal from Junior F Lukas Hixon. Just over a minute into the 2nd period, Freshman F Bryce Radeke tied things up for the Trojans 2-2 with a one-timer from the slot. Senior F Beckett Dunn followed up with a tally, giving North their first lead of the game 3-2. A few minutes later, Junior F Conor Bradrick found the back of the net to put the Trojans up 4-2. Controlling play in the 3rd, North Catholic tried to maintain their 2-goal lead, but Rams' F Xypher Zamias put Richland within 1 late in the game. The Trojans held on for the remaining minute and pulled out a tight win 4-3.
Analysis – Freshman G Graham Carbon got the start for the Trojans and stopped 13 of 16 shots, posting a .812 SV%. North Catholic overwhelmingly out-shot the Rams 43-16. Richland went 1 for 4 on the power play, while the Trojans went 0 for 4. F Beckett Dunn (1 G, 1 A) and F Conor Bradrick (1 G, 1 A) led the effort with 2 points. North Catholic is now tied for 3rd in the Varsity A Blue Division with a 7-2-0 record. Their next game is Thursday, December 5th at home against Avonworth. Puck drop is at 8:00pm.
