McMurry, PA - The North Catholic girls track and field team made history Tuesday night, capturing the program's first-ever WPIAL Class 2A Team Championship in thrilling, come-from-behind fashion at Peters Township's Confluence Financial Partners Stadium.
With the championship undecided until the final event, the Trojanettes rose to the moment in the 1,600-meter relay, sealing a 77–73 victory over defending champion Quaker Valley. The relay team of Alexis Stoltz,
Megan Heinbach,
Ella Eiler, and anchor
Lydia Pierce delivered a season-best performance to claim first place and secure the title.
North Catholic entered the final event trailing by one point, but the relay win capped an exceptional day in which the Trojanettes went 3–0 overall, also defeating Laurel (86–63) and Burrell (115–35) to earn the championship trophy.
NC's championship effort was fueled by victories in five individual and relay events, demonstrating both depth and balance across the lineup.
The championship marks a significant milestone for the North Catholic track and field program and culminates years of steady growth. Head coach Terry Fisher, who has guided the program for six seasons, credited the team's chemistry and work ethic for the breakthrough moment.

Up next for both teams is the WPIAL individual championships next Wednesday, May 13, at the William C. Lennox Track at Slippery Rock.
