Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) announced its brackets for the WPIAL/UPMC Sports Medicine Softball Championships presented by the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday evening, with 76 teams qualifying across the six classifications.
The 2025 WPIAL/UPMC Sports Medicine Softball Championships presented by the Pittsburgh Pirates will begin on Monday, May 12. Teams qualify for the WPIAL tournament by finishing in the top four of their respective sections following the regular season. In Class 6A, the top six teams will enter the WPIAL tournament. Championship games will be held on May 28-29 at Lilley Field on the campus of Pennsylvania Western University, California, with Friday, May 30 scheduled as the rain date.
Each classification champion and additional teams qualify for the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Softball Championships. The number of designated PIAA qualifier spots can be found on each bracket. The PIAA Softball Championships begin on Monday, June 2 and all championship games are held on June 12-13 at Nittany Lion Softball Park on the campus of Penn State University.
