Cranberry Twp, PA - The snow is melting, flowers are blooming, and North Catholic High School's Track and Field team is poised at the start line ready for another fantastic Spring season. Led by sprinting and distance coaches, Timothy Souders and Terry Fisher, the track team aims for more WPIAL championships, improved school records, and more extraordinary accomplishments.
The final chapter of an incredible high school running novel comes to a close, as star distance seniors Tessa Driehorst, Sydney Dunn, and Madeline Meeuf enter their final running season as Trojanettes. The girls team as a whole finished runner-up in the WPIAL last year, but they intend to take home gold in 2026. The question is, will the trio earn a classic storybook ending to their tale?
Meanwhile, the crew of Trojans look to build on a mediocre 2025 year where they held a winning percentage of .550 in section races. Boys cross country scored runner-up in the 2A WPIAL championship this past Fall. Most of the same runners participate in Track as well, proving there is a strong base set to achieve their intended goals. In addition, key juniors like Jack Kandravy, Ryan Snyder, and Will Waskiewicz return on the sprinting side and jumping side, surely poised to pick up plenty of points.
The Track and Field team's season begins on Tuesday, March 24, with an away section matchup against Apollo-Ridge and Leechburg. Just like the runners, the season sprints by in a flash! WPIAL individual championships take place on May 13 at Slippery Rock University. That is only two months away!
