Spring Sports Recap | April 13–17, 2026

Cranberry Twp, PA - The Trojans and Trojanettes navigated a demanding stretch this past week.  From walk-off wins on the diamond to commanding efforts on the track and courts, teams continued to compete with intensity and resilence.

Baseball Earns Walk-Off Win Over Hampton

Baseball highlighted the week with a thrilling 4–3 walk-off victory over Hampton on April 13.

Landon Petok delivered the game-winning hit in the bottom of the final inning, capping a balanced offensive effort. Matthew Madonna powered the lineup with a two-run home run, while Luca Guzowski and Landon Eifler chipped in doubles. Eifler was outstanding on the mound, tossing 6.2 scoreless innings, allowing just four hits while striking out four to earn the win.

Later in the week, the Trojans dropped a tight 3–2 loss to Hampton, despite strong pitching from Matthew Curtis and Guzowski, who combined to allow no earned runs.

Softball Picks Up Another Key Win, Sees Milestone Moment

Softball continued its strong season with a 7–2 victory over Western Beaver on April 13 at Valencia SportsPark.

Kennedy Brown earned the win in the circle, striking out seven batters over five innings, while also driving in two runs at the plate. Clare Kotwica and Lauren Golebiewski added RBIs, and Dakota Hicks led the Trojanettes with two hits. Kotwica also contributed two scoreless relief innings.

The night carried added significance as Kennedy Brown recorded her 300th career strikeout, a milestone accomplishment recognized during the game.

North Catholic later fell 9–6 at Hampton, despite multi-hit performances from Mary Kotwica, Juliana Lehman, and Addy Gray, who also drove in two runs.

Boys tennis earned a critical 3–2 win over Quaker Valley on April 13, securing victories at second singles, third singles, and first doubles to clinch the match.

The Trojans followed up with a dominant 4–0 win over West Allegheny, sweeping singles play before rain halted doubles competition. Justin Garvey, Alex Weber, and Jake Sinclair all posted convincing straight-set wins in singles action.

Track Programs Continue Dominance

Both North Catholic track teams delivered commanding performances in multiple meets during the week.

  • Boys Track defeated Deer Lakes 95–42 and Springdale 112–19, showcasing depth across the lineup.

  • Girls Track rolled past Deer Lakes 96–44 and overwhelmed Springdale 136–1 in one of the most lopsided victories of the season.

The results continued an impressive spring for the track program as both squads consistently piled up points across events.

Lacrosse Sees Grit and Growth

The boys lacrosse team battled through a challenging slate, rebounding with a strong 12–10 win over Knoch on April 13 after earlier losses to Butler. The victory highlighted the Trojans' ability to respond and close out competitive matchups.

Girls lacrosse faced tough opposition, falling to Freeport 10–3. Layla Pegnato scored twice, Molly Croft added a goal, and Maddie Hill recorded six saves as the Trojans continued to gain experience against strong teams.

Boys Volleyball Picks Up Conference Win

Boys volleyball earned a solid 3–1 victory over Beaver County Christian on April 16, winning sets 25-23, 25-15, and 25-23 around a narrow second-set loss.

The Trojans faced stiff competition in losses to Shaler, Armstrong, and Hopewell, continuing to test themselves against quality opponents as the season progresses.
