Cranberry Twp, PA - Spring sports continued a busy stretch of competition, delivering clutch victories, impressive offensive performances, and dominant showings across multiple sports as April progressed.
Boys Lacrosse Earns Statement Win
Boys lacrosse opened the week with a thrilling 10–9 victory over Greensburg Central Catholic on April 17. The Trojans edged out the close contest with disciplined play and strong late execution, securing a hard-fought road win.
Later in the week, the Trojans faced a tough challenge against Mars, falling 21–4 as the team continued to work through a demanding section schedule.
Softball Powers Through Another Strong Week
Softball once again anchored the week with multiple standout performances.
On April 20, the Trojanettes rolled past Central Valley 17–5, fueled by a huge day from Clare Kotwica, who collected three hits including a home run. Dakota Hicks went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBIs as the Trojanettes piled up 19 hits in a decisive offensive showing. Kennedy Brown earned the win in the circle, striking out eight batters.
After a setback against Hampton, the Trojanettes bounced back on April 22 with a 10–8 win over Blackhawk, holding off a late rally. Lauren Golebiewski drove in four runs, while Kotwica added a home run as NC erupted for five runs in the sixth inning to secure the victory.
The week concluded with another dominant effort as NC defeated Central Valley 11–1 on April 24. Kotwica again led the way with a three-run homer and four RBIs, while Addy Gray picked up the pitching win in a shortened outing.
Baseball Competes in Close Matchups
Baseball endured a tightly contested week, highlighted by narrow games and balanced offensive production.
The Trojans dropped an 8–7 decision to Central Valley on April 20 despite multiple players driving in runs, including Luca Guzowski and Matthew Madonna, who contributed extra-base hits.
The Trojans rebounded on April 21 with a 7–2 victory, getting strong pitching from Landon Eifler, who tossed five innings while allowing just three hits. Landon Petok led the offense with three hits and a double as the Trojans controlled the contest.
The week closed with a 9–6 loss to Armstrong, despite multi-RBI performances from Guzowski, Eifler, and Matthew Curtis.
Boys Tennis Continues Winning Ways
Boys tennis posted another solid result, earning a 3–2 win over Quaker Valley on April 13 before adding a dominant 4–0 victory over West Allegheny on April 17.
Justin Garvey, Alex Weber, and Jake Sinclair all secured straight-set singles wins against West Allegheny before rain halted doubles competition, clinching the match early.
Track Teams Deliver Big Performances
The track program continued to shine with multiple strong meets.
The results further cemented North Catholic's track squads as strong contenders this spring.
Girls Lacrosse Finds Success, Battles Close Losses
Girls lacrosse enjoyed a highlight performance on April 21 with a 15–5 win over Knoch. Gabby Hervert led the scoring with four goals, while Kate Geary and Claire Dickson each added three. Emily Birchok anchored the defense with five saves in goal 1.pdf).
The Trojanettes later suffered a heartbreaking 8–7 loss to Chartiers Valley, followed by a tough outing against South Fayette as they continue to gain experience against strong competition.
Boys Volleyball Splits the Week
Boys volleyball earned a convincing 3–0 sweep of Aquinas Academy, controlling all three sets behind strong team execution.
The Trojans also faced Montour and Shaler during the stretch, using the matches as learning opportunities as the season continues.
Flag Football Moves to 7–3
Flag football picked up another important victory, defeating Seneca Valley 19–7 on April 22. Gabby Valentine threw two touchdown passes, while Simone Sharpless added a rushing score. The Trojan defense, led by Lizzie Fabian and Riley Marsico, helped seal the win and improve the team's record to 7–3 on the season.
